Setting the BIOS to run Password-Reset

Entering into BIOS

There are many different BIOS configurations. Below is a common example on how to access many of them. If you are unable to access your BIOS, please contact us with the make and model of your computer so we can assist you in identifying the proper method for changing your boot sequence.

1. If your computer rebooted into Windows with Password-Reset CD in the drive, please reboot it and press F2 or Delete to enter your BIOS setup.

Changing the Boot Sequence

1. In the Advanced tab, make sure your CD-ROM is setup to boot before your hard disk (your BIOS setup may be different from the screen shot below; please consult your BIOS manual on how to change the boot device order)..

2. Insert the Password-Reset CD in your CD drive if you haven't already done so..

3. Press F10 and Y followed by ENTER to save the new BIOS settings and reboot your computer.

The above information is just an example of a typical BIOS setup. Your computers BIOS may be different, including what key you press to enter the BIOS. You can also try hitting F12 to see if a boot device list comes up that allows you to select the boot drive on a one time basis.

Computer BIOS Info

Most computers are already set to boot from the CD drive first, but some are not. If you put the CD in the computer and it boots to a black DOS looking screen, then you are fine. If it boots to Windows, you need to change the boot order in your BIOS.

For the Password-Reset CD to work, it in crucial that the BIOS is set to boot the CD first. Please read the instructions on the left in order to set your BIOS to boot the Password-Reset CD first.
